These calculations use the following assumptions:
- Tariffs are at the current gazetted rates and include GST.
- Tariff 11 Residential is 26.027 c/kWh; Tariff 12 Residential (Time-of-Use) off-peak is 0 c/kWh, shoulder is 0 c/kWh, peak is 0 c/kWh; Tariff 13 Residential (PeakSmart Time-of-Use) off-peak is 16.787 c/kWh, shoulder is 22.723 c/kWh, peak is 33.45 c/kWh; Tariff 31 Night Rate (Super Economy) is 19.704 c/kWh; Tariff 33 Controlled Supply (Economy) is 21.195 c/kWh.
- Tariff 12 Residential (Time-of-Use) and Tariff 13 Residential (PeakSmart Time-of-Use) off-peak times are 10pm to 7am daily. Shoulder times are 7am to 10pm on weekends. Shoulder times are 7am to 4pm and 8pm to 10pm on weekdays. Peak times are 4pm to 8pm on weekdays.
- Where Tariff 12 Residential (Time-of-Use) or Tariff 13 Residential (PeakSmart Time-of-Use) is selected, electricity use of the hot water system is assumed to occur as follows: 45% during peak times, 45% during shoulder times, and 10% off-peak on weekdays, and 90% during shoulder times plus 10% during off-peak times on weekends.
- Shower flow is 9L/min and has 40% hot water.
- Solar hot water systems are assumed to use 200kWh/yr.
- Electric storage hot water systems electricity usage is 1 kWh per 15 litres of hot water.
- Heat pump uses 30% of the electricity of an electric storage hot water system.
- Annual costs are based on 365 days, starting on a Monday. If the operating times run past midnight, the extra hours are calculated as part of the same day.
